A successful Kickstarter project has funded the world’s first wireless headphones that uses a special technology which makes it possible to offer world-class audio performance without burning a hole in your wallet.
In only 2 days, Swedish Hi-Fi manufacturer XTZ collected enough funds to be able to start production of the new XTZ Headphone Divine, the world’s first wireless headphones with High-End DSP. A technology which makes it possible to go beyond the limitations in today’s headphones and bring us even better audio performance.
According tio the press release, one of the holy grails that headphone manufacturers try to achieve by improving their design, is a completely flat frequency response which is close to impossible. This is why XTZ, with help of advanced Digital Signal Processing (DSP), is now able to move these limitations even further and create the perfect frequency response to take the sound experience to a whole new level. DSP technology has been on the market for a couple of years and it has matured a lot with time, but until now it has mainly been used for correcting the acoustic characteristics of a speaker cabinet or a room. XTZ was early to produce in-ear headphones with high-end DSP (the EarPhone-12) but no one has ever tried to create wireless headphones with the same technology.
The DSP used by XTZ is one of the very best and it comes from another Swedish company called Dirac. Their DSPs are used by a long list of luxury car brands and other high-end audio brands. In the pursuit to offer the best wireless headphones, XTZ knew that just the DSP wouldn’t be enough. It was also important to use high quality drivers and this is why XTZ Headphone Divine uses drivers that can only be found in headphones that cost a lot more. One other thing that Headphone Divine needed for the best audio was to support the aptX Codec since normal Bluetooth audio is aimed at minimum power usage and not high bit rate music streaming. This codec uses a much more efficient encoding, enabling it to playback audio indistinguishable from that of a wired connection. Normally people can’t agree upon which headphones they think sounds the best and this is simply because everybody have different taste in what good audio should sound like. Luckily, XTZ Headphone Divine addresses this issue by implementing different sound characters in the Android/iOS DSP app, allowing the user to find the best sound depending on taste and the surrounding environment. Another good thing with the DSP app is that it will improve even more with future updates, meaning that the headphones will sound better and better as new updates roll out. XTZ Headphone Divine is not only great sounding headphone but also a comfortable and easy to use headset with features like built in microphone, NFC pairing and remote buttons. If the 14h battery life runs out, it’s possible to connect directly through the 3,5mm line in connection which also makes it possible to use the Headphone Divine with devices that don’t support Bluetooth.
Backers who supports the Kickstarter campaign can get a pair of Headphone Divine before Christmas at half the price. XTZ hope to start selling the product already early 2015 at a MSRP of $229
