miniDSP announced the immediate availability of the DDRC-24, the world’s smallest Dirac Live processor. Dirac Live, the world’s premier room correction solution, corrects both the room and the loudspeaker with a unique proprietary mixed-phase algorithm doing both impulse and frequency response correction. This technology is used not only in home stereo systems but also in cinemas, recording studios, and luxury cars. With the release of the miniDSP DDRC-24, it is now available in a compact hardware unit.
Powered by a 400 MHz Analog Devices SHARC processor, the miniDSP DDRC-24 accepts a stereo input signal via asynchronous USB Audio, digital optical, or analog. The four analog outputs can be matrixed to the two Dirac Live correction channels in any way. Combined with a full suite of miniDSP’s DSP functionality (parametric EQ, crossover, bi-quad programming, delay and gain), the result is an extraordinarily flexible processor for applications ranging from straightforward stereo room correction through to active loudspeakers, subwoofer integration, sub-sat systems, and as a component of active multichannel and home theater systems, the company says.
Correction accuracy of the miniDSP DDRC-24 is assured by its tight integration with the miniDSP UMIK-1, a calibrated yet inexpensive measurement microphone (separate purchase required). Calibration files are provided for both on-axis and 90-degree free field orientations, allowing for the broadest possible range of applications.
"Following 4 years of great partnership with the Dirac Research Team, we're excited to see the release of this new powerful processor to complete our existing portfolio" say Antoine Rouget, CEO at miniDSP. "With the DDRC-24, Dirac Live room correction has never been easier or more affordable". “We are pleased to see a new member added to the highly appreciated miniDSP Dirac series. This affordable high-performance product will bring the exciting sound experience of a perfectly tuned audio system to more people, which has always been our common goal since the first miniDSP Dirac product was launched” say Dr. Mathias Johansson, CEO of Dirac.
The DDRC-24 is available immediately on the minidsp web shop for US $450 including a full license of Dirac Live.
