XT-7 is Gold Note's new full range, 3-way, large floorstanding loudspeaker with anti-turbulence rear bass reflex, their first product to feature an AMT (Air Motion Transformer) tweeter.
The unique XT curved design is based on a reinforced chassis and wooden multi layer panels to control resonances, a design where every single element is crucial and serve the sole purpose of achieving the best sound possible, the company says. The cabinets are separated for the bass and mid/high frequency drivers, to enhance perfect tuning: the bass drivers cabinet is vented while the mid/high cabinet is perfectly sealed. The massive stand features adjustable spikes and guarantees perfect stability while completing the structure to enhance performance.
XT-7 is the first Gold Note loudspeaker to feature a ribbon tweeter, an AMT ultra-linear unit, enhanced with a metal dampened rear chamber and a new custom voice-coil cooling radiator, designed for resonance reduction and to increase linearity. A 150mm ultra-linear driver developed with Seas, enhanced with a proprietary metal chassis, is used for the midrange, featuring a unique curved cone with ultra-hardened woven polypropylene material. This, according to Gold Note, allows for excellent internal damping while the moving parts are perfectly matched together for a smooth and extended frequency response. The custom copper phase-plug reduces compression due to temperature variations in the voice coil, while also increasing the long-term power handling capacity. The heavy copper ring around the coil drastically reduces distortion and intermodulation.
For the low frequency part of the audio spectrum, two 180mm Seas ultra-linear drivers are used, featuring Gold Note's unique curved cone in ultra-hardened woven polypropylene. To allow extreme coil excursion with low distortion, the magnet system features a bumped back plate with long and lightweight copper clad aluminum voice coils.
For the XT-7, the company developed a crossover with state-of-the-art components provided by Mundorf and Clarity. Crossover cut-off points are at 280Hz and 3000Hz and the whole filter is compensated for easy driving even at a nominal impedance of 4Ω.
