Meters Music, a new brand that belongs to Ashdown Engineering (better known from their bass amplifiers, pedals and effects), recently unveiled the OV-1 headphones, a system which includes a pair of VU meters attached to the earcups.
According to the details published, the VU meters featured are a line-level signal indicator, designed to give the headphones a dynamic look as people around can see the level of the music one enjoys. They work exactly like the meters on a professional mixing desk, bringing a touch of the studio to everyday listening.
OV-1 features custom designed 40mm dome drivers and an active noise canceling circuit. A USB socket allows for battery charging through a USB cable provided.
The headphones are finished with a more sustainable alternative to real leather, protein leather, that can be produced to the same standards every time, is breathable and less prone to wear and tear.
Connection to the source is via a detachable 1.2m long cable, terminated with a 3.5mm TRS jack. A gold-plated 6.4mm TRS jack adapter is included.
Frequency response is 20Hz-20kHz and the OV-1 weights just over 450gr. The headphones will be available February 2017 for about $300.
