The new preamplifier, code-named Model 3000mk2, is expected to replace the current model and includes some serious refinements both in the power supply and the input/output transformers.
The Model 3000 is a minimalist preamplifier, featuring only one vacuum tube for signal amplification, a 5687WB double triode in a uniquely designed fixed-bias circuit and a power supply featuring a battery and one full wave rectifier (a 6CA4 tube) in a separate chassis. Signal attenuation is based on a top quality Alps potentiometer, while a full input/output isolation through the use of transformers is used, for low noise operation and optimized power amplifier drive.
The Model 3000mk2 retains the “one triode only” circuit, but features a completely redesigned rectifier (the power supply remains external) and new input and output transformers, which use amorphous cobalt magnetic cores.
The Alps potentiometer is retained as a signal attenuator, but now it includes a motor drive system to offer remote volume control. The new version of the preamplifier includes a full function remote, which -apart from the volume- it, also, controls the power on/off, source selection, signal polarity and the mute function.
Model 3000mk2 connectivity includes four inputs (one balanced/XLR and three single ended/RCA) and four pairs of outputs, two single ended/RCA and two balanced/XLR.
