Grado recently announced the GW100, the first open back Bluetooth-based wireless headphones and their first wireless set ever. Based on Grado signature drivers, and offering the openness in sound the company is well known off, are specially designed to diminish sound leek.
Since 1953, Grado Labs has adapted at their own pace, and -according to their statement- the first wireless Grado headphone is only the first step in what’s to come. Inside the GW100 are the signature Grado drivers, the same ones used for the company's wired headphones, which are finely tuned for the different enclosures. Grado Labs' first wireless headphone, a milestone in their 65 year history, is no different, with drivers configured specifically for them.
According to the details published, the GW100 are the worlds first open-back Bluetooth headphones. Their housings and internals have been designed from the ground up and working in tandem to notably diminish escaping sound by up to 60%, depending on the distance, angle and the music played.
GW100 feature Bluetooth v4.2 with apt-X and offer a working distance up to 10 meters. The 320mAH battery included is sufficient for up to 15 hours of wireless operation but the headphones also include a standard cable with a 3.5 TRS connector for wired operation. A 6.5mm gold-plated adapter is, also, included. The user can charge the headphones through a micro-USB connection. Nominal impedance is 32 Ohms, sufficiently low to be driven easily from portable media players and other smart devices.
