Ruark recently gave details about the forthcoming release of MRx, their first connected wireless loudspeaker which will be available to purchase from May/June 2018 and will offer great sound and a wide range of abilities, looking forward to to be the perfect system for the lounge, kitchen or study. Additionally, by linking more MRx or R2 Mk3 and R7 Mk3 models it’s easy to build a wireless multi-room system for quality synchronized sound wherever required.
MRx has been built for wireless streaming using Bluetooth with aptX technology for CD quality sound from compatible devices and a broadband internet connection to allow access to internet radio and an almost infinite library of music through online services such as Spotify, Deezer and Tidal, with Amazon Music also coming soon. The user can also stream music stored on other networked computers and from his phone.
Ruark has specifically developed a new driver for the MRx, based on the technology from the award-winning MR1 Mk2, with a new cone and coil assembly coupled with a powerful neodymium magnet system. The drivers are mounted as a stereo pair into a bass reflex enclosure and powered by a high-fidelity two channel Class AB amplifier. Use of sound processing allows for the final voicing of the loudspeaker and offers a stereo soundstage that belies the MRx compact dimensions. The loudspeaker can access music stored on computers and NAS drives connected to the home network and supports a variety of popular audio codecs including WAV, WMA, AAC, FLAC and MP3.
A stylish controller located on the front of MRx allows volume and source to be easily changed, but for full remote control there is, of course, a dedicated app for iOS and Android devices called Ruark LINK, which, also, displays information on the source material being played, and allows users to create and manage groups when two or more MRx units are being used together as part of a multi-room system. Alongside its wireless connectivity, MRx also has great direct connectivity, with a combined line-in and digital optical input, allowing auxiliary devices to be easily connected. A multi-purpose USB socket allows playback of music stored on a memory stick or portable hard drive. There is, also, an Ethernet port for wired connection to the home network. MRx can be used in both landscape and portrait orientation and can be wall mounted, if required.
