Spendor’s multi award winning D7 and A6R loudspeakers have been a grate success, therefore it is not a surprise that the company has applied key elements of the technology and materials developed for these models, to create the all-new Spendor A-Line loudspeakers and especially the A7.
According to the press release, the new A7 (£2,995.00 pair inc. VAT, in the UK market) is a major revision of the highly acclaimed A6R floor standing loudspeaker. The slim modern linear-form cabinet is styled and sized to fit easily and unobtrusively into any living space. Spendor's 4th generation linear flow port ensures good bass even when the A7 are positioned close to a wall or in a small room.
At the heart of the A7 is a new Spendor designed 180mm bass-mid drive unit. It features an EP77 polymer cone and new surround and suspension materials with outstanding thermal and mechanical stability, the company says. A 22mm wide-surround tweeter combines the extended frequency response of a small diaphragm with the low frequency characteristics of a larger diaphragm to give stable low distortion response over a wide frequency range. The unique diaphragm profile delivers a smooth extended high frequency response over a very wide listening area. The crossover network includes precision wound high linearity tapped inductors and high linearity audio grade capacitors. Internal cables are high-grade silver plated pure copper with halogen free dielectric.
Spendor’s Dynamic Damping technology features small low mass constrained polymer dampers at key energy interface points which instantly convert any spurious energy in the cabinet into inaudible heat. The base of the plinth has four machined steel stabilizer inserts. These contribute to the neat appearance and good stability of the slim cabinets. The stabilizers are secured directly into the main structure of the cabinet so that micro-movement or flexing of the plinth and feet is eliminated. Available finishes are black ash, dark walnut, natural oak and satin white. The plinth has a contrasting black satin lacquer finish.
