Wharfedale says that the Linton represents one of the most iconic models in their long history of loudspeaker design and its new version, under the Heritage series, further exemplifies the company's principles of quality and value for money, balancing fine craftsmanship, natural sound quality and affordability inside a beautifully proportioned loudspeaker that has been bought in its millions right across the globe through it’s various incarnations.
Linton is a model that embodied the Wharfedale pioneering research through the 60s, 70s and 80s, with a bloodline dating back to 1965. The original Linton was well known for its warm, rich and natural sounding character and the new version retains that standing but imbues it with an open, detailed performance that will entice the listener to explore his whole music collection, once more, the company states.
The Linton Heritage is a three-way, dual bass reflex design, based on new Kevlar drivers with new rubber surrounds for low and mid frequencies. The woofer uses an 8-inch black woven cone, while the midrange a 5-inch cone from the same material. The tweeter is an 1-inch soft dome driver. Crossover points are set to 630Hz and 2.4kHz, with a frequency response between 40Ηz and 20kHz (±3dB), going down to 35Hz (-6dB). Sensitivity is a standard 90dB (2.0V/1m) and nominal/minimum impedance 6/3.5 Ohms.
The new loudspeaker maintains the real wood veneer cabinets of the original and Wharfedale offers special designed stands as an option. Linton Heritage is already available at around €1,200.- (including the stands).
