Solstice is the first turntable in the British brand’s almost 50-year history. It comes partnered with a next-generation version of the iconic Naim Aro tonearm, an Equinox MC cartridge, Solstice Series Phono Stage, Power Supply and bespoke accessories set. Naim will create just 500 units of the Solstice, hence the "Special Edition" tag.
The Solstice features multiple levels of mechanical decoupling, a magnetic bearing supporting a high-mass, highly polished aluminum platter and uses a unique, self-calibrating motor drive system. The new version of the Aro tonearm retains the original’s design principles but boosts performance further still by using improved materials – including tungsten and carbon-fiber – and adding an all-new, no-compromise bias, arm height and azimuth adjustments.
The turntable comes complete with Naim's Equinox MC Cartridge – featuring a microline stylus shape and a boron cantilever, while the user can also attach the Solstice Series Phono Stage NVC TT – the first Naim phono stage to use DR technology, initially used on the flagship Statement amplifier. It is a sophisticated, ultra-low-noise Class A design with dedicated MC and MM head-amplifiers, the company states.
Naim's obsession with good quality power supplies is well known, therefore it is not a surprise than a specially designed Solstice Series Power Supply, the NPX TT – powers both the turntable and the phono stage. For the ultimate performance, the two power supplies are completely isolated, with no risk of interference.
The Solstice Special Edition is accompanied by an Accessories Set – including a Digital Stylus Gauge, a Bubble Level, Hex Drivers and Vinyl Adjustment Tool. A Dust Protector and Cleaning Cloth and the Naim Records True Stereo album – a curated collection of superb-quality True Stereo recordings, newly remastered for vinyl by original engineer, Ken Christiansen as well as the Solstice Special Edition Book – including insight into heritage, technology and design are, also, included.
Suggested selling price is €17,000/$20,000.
