To celebrate 50 years of creating real Hi-Fi for real music lovers, as the saying goes, Exposure announced the new 3510 CD player, the final piece in the British brand’s much lauded 3510 series of Hi-Fi components.
When CD was launched four decades ago, it was advertised with the slogan “perfect sound forever”. Of course, in reality, nothing is either perfect or forever, but despite various pronouncements of the death of the CD, the format lives on, taking its rightful place alongside vinyl, digital streaming services and tape in the modern music lover’s diverse collection. Still, the launch of a brand new CD player is a relatively rare event these days, so one to celebrate Exposure says.
According to the press release, the design is clearly informed by what customers actually want in practice, rather than by the latest trend. First, it has the flexibility of operating as a standalone CD player, while also being designed as a CD transport to connect with either the company’s 3510 or 5010 preamplifiers or the 3510 integrated amplifier, fitted with the optional DAC board. Second, learning from the success of their compact XM CD player, the 3510 again sports the brand’s bespoke top-loading mechanism with sliding lid and magnetic clamp. Here, loading a CD feels almost as pleasing as cueing up a vinyl record, Exposure states.
Key features of the Exposure 3510 CD player include a dual mono PCM1704 24-bit DAC, highly optimized, fully discrete audio output circuitry with multiple stages of supply regulation, a large toroidal power transformer with separate windings for the CD transport mechanism and the audio stages and a high-stability crystal clock reference and dedicated power supply regulator for the transport and audio stages to ensure low jitter performance.
