The original Nu-Vista 800 enjoyed the top-of-the-line Nu-Vista spot since its introduction in 2013 till its discontinuation in 2021, due to supply shortages of parts. This summer, the company unveiled their rework of the Nu-Vista 800, named the 800.2 and brought the legendary amp back – improved.
Changes include a new front panel that sports a new display, new power transformers for even less noise, revised power supply circuits and the addition of the remote on/standby feature. The Nu-Vista 800.2‘s mechanical construction is uncompromisingly rigid and solid, the company says. The casework is nearly immune to external vibrations and electromagnetic interference and the new Nu-Vista 800.2 is now a new hybrid integrated, that visually fits into the new range of Nu-Vista products, with improved sound and noise floor.
The new amp is based on the Titan architecture - released in 2009. Titan was one of Musical Fidelity‘s most important and groundbreaking amplifiers. All Nu-Vista‘s, including the 800.2, include the locally decoupled output stage since the Titan. This meant giving each output device a corresponding high current bulk supply capacitor. Mounting such a capacitor near each output transistor allows more immediate access to stored energy, with much lower impedance path to flow through. This results in better transient response and coincidentally provides a degree of improved ripple filtering at higher currents in conjunction with the supply capacitors situated elsewhere, MF states. The main supply capacitors are situated right on the rectifiers also decreasing supply impedance and helps to keep rectification and hum noise away from the high gain power amp circuit.
The Nu-Vista 800.2 is available for an MSRP of €11.990 (incl. VAT).
