The Pick it PRO Balanced cartridge is a revised version of the Pick it PRO moving magnet model which allows you a “True Balanced” signal transmission. Standard MM cartridges cannot be used with a symmetrical connection, as it would result in a difference between the left and right channel, the company says, so a dedicated design is required.
The big advantage of a balanced connection is its ability to remove picked up noise and interference and this is crucial in the connection between the cartridge and the phono preamplifier, where the signal level is extremely low. Along with the Pick it PRO Balanced, Pro-Ject's “True Balanced” cable range offers the perfect cable to connect your turntable to either the Phono Box S3 B or Phono Box DS3 B.
The new MM cartridge sells for €199 and offers a sensitivity of 4mV (1kHz) and a channel separation of 22dB (1kHz). It features an elliptical stylus. Frequency response is 20- 20.000Hz ±2dB. Cartridge mass is 7.2gr and compliance 12μm/mN.
