Schiit Audio announced the immediate availability of Modi 5, their most affordable standalone Mesh DAC, and Magni Unity with the all-new Mesh DAC card, for a complete one-box amp/DAC solution.
Mesh combines Schiit's unique time-and frequency-domain closed-form digital filter with a standard delta-sigma modulator. Modi also includes Unison 384, Schiit's unique USB input implementation, and Linear Override, a unique power supply topology providing convenience and performance the company says.
According to the press release, Mesh delivers a DAC that sounds a lot more like Schiit's flagship DACs, at a much more affordable price, because they have implemented the proprietary, closed-form digital filter on the same 32-bit microprocessor that enables Unison 384.
Modi 5 also includes Unison 384, Schiit's proprietary USB input, and Linear Override, a unique power supply that allows it to be run from a single USB for portability and convenience, or to use an AC wall-wart to override the switching supply with a higher-voltage linear-regulated one, for higher output and additional headroom.
Magni Unity with Mesh DAC provides a single-box desktop amp/DAC system for driving headphones and powered monitors. With 2.5W of power into 32 ohms, Magni Unity delivers plenty of power for hard-to-drive headphones, while also providing a very low noise floor for IEMs.
Modi 5 is priced at $149 in black finish, $159 in silver. Magni Unity with Mesh DAC is priced at $199 in black, $209 in silver.
