Show Report: LG - Pioneer

LG displayed for the first time in Europe their impressive 105-inch UHD TV featuring a concave 21:9 screen (optimized for cinema). It has an integrated 7.2 channel sound system designed in collaboration with Harman Kardon.

The company also announced the first TVs with 4K resolution, which will be based on OLED panel. This is the 9700 series, which includes 65 and 77-inch models.

Metz presented their new range of televisions, the Solea with 42, 47 and 55-inch models. They are compatible with 3D, based on the mecaVision image processor and include a dual tuner with a 500GB hard disc recorder.


Monster recently seems to heavily invest in headphones (just like many manufacturers do). These are the 24k (named as such for obvious reasons)…

… and the Adidas Originals which are aimed primarily at those with an active lifestyle. They support MusicShare as a means allow two users to listen from the same source.

Mitek introduced the new "big" i-dock, codenamed IT1, int the MTX product range. It is made of aluminum and features a powerful amplifier (250W in total). Airplay is also supported.

MusicMan BT-X2 is a small wireless louspeaker with aluminum casing. It uses Bluetooth for wireless streaming and also has a line input. The finish is quite interesting, in five metallic colors.

Onkyo presented their first media player codenamed CN-750. High resolution files up to 24/192 and DSD 128x are supported and there is, also, an optical disc drive for CD Audio/MP3 playback.

ES-CTI300 the Onkyo are using titanium diaphragms and are optimized for iOS devices as they have the relevant certified on-cable remote control. The cable itself uses 6N purity copper conductors.

The same company presented the SKH-410 surround loudspeakers, suitable to meet the additional needs of a system compatible with the new Dolby Atmos format.

Speaking of Atmos, Onkyo is one of the first companies to support it, offering several compatible devices, such as the TX-NR1030, a complete AV 9.2 channel with HDMI 2.0 connectivity and capable of wireless streaming…

… and the 11.2 channel TX-NR3030.







The multi-room systems are moving rapidly towards the main stream. Panasonic exhibited the ALL series based on the AllPlay technology by Qualcomm. This technology allows the parallel streaming of different sources in many rooms.

Panasonic also demonstrated a new generation of high-resolution recorders, codenamed DMR-940 (BCT and BST depending on the type of receiver they feature). Both units handle 4K and 3D signals, include a 4K scaler and three TV signal receivers. Recordings can also be stored on a 2TB hard disk.

Finally, for those looking for the ultimate quality in their personal video recordings, the company demonstrated the HX-A500, a wearable camcorder with a 4K/ 5p resolution. The device can withstand harsh environmental conditions (water and dust) and the camera part weights just 32 grams.

Philips displayed several new television series. Series 8800 Android includes Android OS supported sets, capable of 4K, featuring the Ambilight light bias technology and a dual tuner…

… while the 9800 series, with LED panel, 4K capability and advanced video processing (based on the Perfect Pixel Ultra HD processor), features a wireless subwoofer and is also based on Android OS.

Philips also demonstrated some interesting things in the area of audio products, such as the new B5 Fidelio series soundbar (with splittable loudspeakers, as usual)…

… the NC-1 headphones with active noise cancellation technology…

… and the HTL6145C soundbar (under the brand name Woox), accompanied by a wireless sub (with small height to fit easily in difficult areas). The soundbar offers wireless streaming and supports NFC technology too.

Finally, Philips introduced the UHD 880 4K media player which supports HEVC encoding and is based on Android OS. The company announced that the device will accompany for free the 8000 and 9000 TV series while its price (if you buy it separately) will be below € 250,-

Pinell from Norway demonstrated the range of their Go portable radios (in various colors). The radios support DAB/DAB + and offer a long battery life, up to 24 hours.

For those who want something more, Pinell offers the Go+, with a line input to connect to an external source, streaming via Bluetooth/aptX and FM/DAB + tuner.

Impressive finish for the new Pioneer headphones codenamed MX9 "Clubsound", featuring 50mm drivers and aluminum frame.
