Pioneer entered the wireless loudspeakers realm with FREEme a system that supports Bluetooth streaming and NFC technology. It uses two 40mm drivers with neodymium magnets.
In the micro-systems area, Pioneer displayed the X-CM32BT (available in 7 different colors). The system includes a CD player, tuner and a 30W amplifier and there is also a USB port for external media…
…while the X-PM32 includes a powerful 75W per channel class D amp that drives 2-way passive radiator loaded loudspeakers.
I-Sonic from Polk Audi is a desktop system compatible with iPod iPhone devices. Polk has focused on good low-frequency response (using PowerPort reflex design).
One of the many small tabletop radios at IFA this year, was the Evoke Mio D4 from Pure. Besides its interesting aesthetics, the radio offers wireless streaming (and supports Internet radio too), an input for external audio sources and an output as well.
A200 is a small Bluetooth wireless loudspeaker from Rapoo. There are four colors to choose from.
Samsung presented their view to multiroom systems in the form of two wireless loudspeakers, the M5 and M7. They can be connected to a compatible source (via WiFi, Bluetooth and AllShare or DLNA standards) and stream MP3, OGG and FLAC files.
Of course, the big story at the Samsung booth was the 105-inch UHD TV, with a concave 21: 9 aspect ratio screen.
Dantax (a Scansonic brand name) displayed a series of rather ambitious new loudspeakers, including two floor-standers and a stand/bookshelf model. The photo unveils ribbon tweeters, side-firing woofers and good aesthetics strongly resembling Raidho models. The series is called Dantax MB.
Scansonic also showed this stylish half width R110 receiver with FM/DAB+ tuner, that features Internet radio and a 2x55W amplifier.
Sennheiser exhibited the HDVD-800 and HDVA-600 headphone amplifiers, the former including analog and digital inputs (and the corresponding DAC) and the later, only analog inputs…
… but of course, the most interesting products here were their headphones. Among those presented, were the in-ear Momentum…
… as well as the new colorful Urbanite on-ear series…
… and the Urbanite XL over-ear series for even better low frequencies.
SMS Audio presented the Sync by 50 headphone series. Here, the on-ear Sport model which is wireless and aimed at those who want a headset that will accompany them in some highly active their most… active moments.
Sonoro debuted a stereo table radio (with a built-in CD player). Very logically, they named it SonoroSTEREO.
Play: 5 from Sonos is their largest wireless loudspeaker. Includes five drivers and has a line input for connecting an external signal source.
Sony introduced the S90 TV-set series with 65 and 75 inch 4K concave panel models. The new TVs support the HEVC codec and feature the X-Reality PRO processor and the Triluminos technology.
The same company also displayed the X9 4K flat panel series, featuring the X-Reality PRO processor and the Wedge design concept that gives them a unique appearance.
For those who want something extra added to their TV sound, Sony demonstrated the HT-GT1 soundbar, a powerful 2.1 system with wireless subwoofer that can be used as a portable speaker too (including appropriate handles for transporting).
The idea behind the lens-style cameras from Sony appears to be a good one (although one must carry at least one E-mount lens). The QX1 uses an Exmor (20.1Mpx) sensor, can accept A/E-mount lenses and communicates wirelessly with a smartphone both for the settings and for file saving.
Sony had a relatively interesting presence in the field of pure audio products. For starters, the speakers SS-AC3 and SS-AC5 were announced for the European market. To our knowledge these are the first featuring the I-Array (a basic 1-inch dome tweeter and two secondary 19mm drivers positioned either side on the vertical axis)…
… and then the NWZ-A15/MDR-Z7 package the former being a hi-res capable Walkman (that supports FLAC format) with 8GB of internal memory and the later, a headphone set to accompany the player, with a response that reaches 100kHz.
Finally, Sony introduced three new wireless Bluetooth headphone models, the water resistant MDR-AS800BT, the MDR-ZX550BN with active noise cancellation and the top model MDR-XB950BT.
