Show Report: Pioneer - Technics

Among the devices shown by Pioneer was the receiver SX-N30, with full networking and streaming features…

… as well as the XDP-100R a top-quality portable media player which additionally supports the MQA technology.

Syrah server which offers a ripping function, an internal hard disk and supports DLNA. There is no internal DAC, but Syrah could be used with Playback's new DAC, the Merlot.

Polaroid introduced the next step in instant photography with the Snap+, a digital camera which can print directly on 2x3 inches paper.

The new version of the Omni SB1 soundbar from Polk is called Omni SB1 Plus. It is a 3.1 design which now includes wired and wireless capabilities (via Bluetooth) and comes with a wireless active subwoofer.

Prism Sound enters the consumer audio filed with Callia, a USB DAC that supports PCM up to 384kHz and DSD64/128, has a headphone amplifier and uses the "CleverClox" jitter attenuation circuit.



The idea behind this Prizm media player is clear: It "learns" from people's playlists and selects music based on their apparent personal preferences!

Questyle unveiled a new gold-looking finish for the Reference series and some new products too, including a DAC/headphone amplifier (600i) and a new wireless 7.1 channel amplifier that operates in the 5GHz band.

Rogers presented the 34S-1 amplifier a class A design which uses 4 EL34 per channel. The amp allows key operating parameters monitoring via an iOS/Android Bluetooth -based app.

Samsung presented the KS9500, their SUHD TV for 2016. It is a bezel-less device with a curved screen, supported by Quantum Dots display technology for better color rendering.

The UBD-K8500 is the UHD BD Player from Samsung. Price will be close to $ 400, and availability will start next March. Along with the respective player from Panasonic is one of the few devices of the kind at the moment.

For those who take their gaming very seriously, virtual reality chamber from Scale-1 Portal projects data on four surfaces to completely immerse the user into the scene.

Orpheus is Sennheiser's state of the art amplifier/headphone system from the 90s and its successor for 2016 shares the same name, even if it clearly is more advanced in design. It still is a tube-based design, though.

Simaudio presented the Moon Neo Ace, an integrated amplifier which includes a DAC capable of streaming up to 32/384 (PCM) and DSSD256 files. The device features a phono preamp stage, a headphone amplifier and offers wireless connectivity (via Bluetooth).

The name does not leave much room for any misinterpretation … Sony has demonstrated their Extra Bass headphones series, for those looking for something more in the lower part of the audio spectrum.

The company also demonstrated the new version of their HDR-AS50 personal camera (with improved vibration suppression technology…

… entered the vinyl playback field with the PS-HX500, a turntable that converts the signal to DSD 5.6MHz stream for computer storage…




… and displayed their new TV series starting with the top XD94. There are also the XD93, SD85, and the introductory XD85 series. Screen sizes range from 75 to 55 inches depending on both series and model.

Finally, Sony introduced two new 7.2 channel receivers, the STR-DV1070 and STR-DH770…

… and a conventional Blu-ray player capable of upscaling to 4K, the UHP-H1.





TAD showed the (not new) CE-1, a three-way compact loudspeaker with a coaxial midrange/ tweeter driver and bass loading through a special structure, the ADS, which ensures low aerodynamic noises and optimized operation at low frequencies.

Panasonic/Technics showed the RP-BTS30, a wireless headphone set for those who do sports, with a battery life of up to six hours…

… the integrated audio system Ottava SC-C500…
